I really hate it when people make OCs for this fandom. The average Hetalia fan just doesn’t know enough about history to make a proper OC and I have seen way too many people claiming that HETALIA IS ONLY ABOUT STEREOTYPES WE DON’T HAVE TO RESEARCH HISTORY WE JUST HAVE TO KNOW SOME STEREOTYPES to have even a shred of faith in this fandom’s ability to make an OC that isn’t completely disrespectful. The canon characters may not be completely accurate but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to flood the fandom with innaccurate Mary-Sues for the sake of pairings.
Worst offenders: States especially Hawaii and California, Quebec, Philippines, Saint Lucia, Andorra and any African nations because they always get whitewashed.
I just really hate it but there is such love for bad OCs sometimes that I’m afraid to express this opinion.
